In 1997 upon finishing Animation School at the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts Susan Anuli Sam (now known as Susan Koch) moved to Toronto to pursue her career as an Animated Information Designer.  She started doing web design in Flash and created the logo to the left for her business called MyMetaMeme. She was an avid reader of WIRED magazine at the time and one day saw an ad for a competition called "Innovations in Communications" sponsored by Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Agency based in London, England. The judges included the likes of the father of information architecture Richard Saul Wurman, as well as Laurie Anderson, Edward De Bono and Neil Armstrong. Susan did up a paper prototype and glued each sheet to the pages of a large scrapbook. She also designed a password protected mockup of the interface in Flash on the net. Some time later she received a letter back from Saatchi & Saatchi regarding these submissions stating that while her entry was "most impressive and received positive comments from the judges" she would need to patent it and resubmit it for the following year in order to be eligible for the 100K USD Award.

Below are photos of the sketches that were included paper prototype scrapbook. Click on the PDF icon to view the paper documents that she prepared for her patent application as well as some other relevant documents.
